How my time at Salford Business School has prepared me for a career in Information security.

In this post, I will update you on my most recent accomplishments and reveal some of my long-term ambitions for you to have a better understanding of me and become aware of my future goals.

Brief Bio...

I've been studying for my Master of Science in Digital Business at The Salford Business School. I earned a BSc in Management Information Systems from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in the United Kingdom. After that, I worked as a systems analyst and software QA analyst.

While working as a software quality assurance analyst, I gained a strong interest in penetration testing, which I feel fuelled my enthusiasm for information security.

The Journey so far...

The world is steadily becoming more reliant on digital technologies. It is difficult for those of us who can remember a time before digital technology to comprehend the lifestyle that "Gen Z's" now have, which is entirely dependent on technology. It appears that technological advancements move the world far faster than other forms of progressions. As a result, the world appears to be a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. There is no aspect of modern life that has not been influenced by the rapid progress of digital technology.

Given all of this, the next logical step was to ride the current digital wave and get my hands dirty with an MSc in Digital Business. I am confident that doing so will place me in a position that is both advantageous and lucrative. Having said that, tough rivalry is unavoidable, and there is no doubt that it will be difficult.

Studying Digital Business at Salford Business School has shown me how important the digital component is in today's world, and it has shown me how much of my day-to-day existence in the physical world is linked to the digital world. My focus has shifted even more to life outside of my studies as I enter the final stage of the programme, I've been thinking about future possibilities, which include transitioning completely into either the information security or cyber security analyst roles.

This programme has required me to complete the following modules: project management, digital business and entrepreneurship, information systems and digital transformation, and search and social media marketing.

All of these modules emphasised the developing digital age we are in, and in an expanding digital age, securing our data is critical. Protecting digital information against unauthorised access and use, as well as guaranteeing the resilience of supporting network infrastructure and systems, are major problems for our society's continuous technological growth.

My short time studying Digital Business at Salford Business School has also given me a basic understanding of information security and risk management. I was able to gain specific information from very experienced lecturers.

In the digital business and entrepreneurship module, for example, I was able to develop advanced knowledge of information security analysis as well as an understanding of the context in which cyber security operates in terms of safety, environmental, social, and economic aspects, allowing me to pursue a flexible professional career in information security.

In Conclusion...

Salford Business School has provided me the opportunity to work with a variety of people and in a variety of settings. For example, working in randomly assigned groups allowed me to meet new people with various perspectives and attitudes, which encouraged my growth. I've learnt how to interact with new people, communicate well, and accept one another.

I can't wait to put everything I've learned in class to use in the real world. As an information security analyst, I had some limited professional experience and expertise, but nothing on the scale of what I've learned here.

As a Postgraduate student at Salford Business School, I am happy to be one of the Salford Business School graduates, and it has been a really beneficial experience.
